How do you know if my pet needs to be euthanized?

Euthanasia is a humane solution to ending your pet’s suffering. Your pet may be ready for euthanasia if they have an incurable disease that is causing great discomfort. If your pet is constantly struggling to breathe or move due to permanent damage to their lungs or chronic pain, it may be time. Euthanasia is a compassionate choice for so many owners who would like to see their pets’ hardship come to an end.

What happens when a pet is euthanized?

It’s important to know that the process is painless. Whether you want to be in the room or not, your pet will be well cared for and will not suffer. We inject a heavy dose of seizure medication called pentobarbital. This causes them to go unconscious, eventually shutting down their heart and brain function.

What happens after?

When preparing for a pet’s euthanization, owners must decide how they would like to handle their pet’s body. They can be buried at a pet cemetery, in a special place (with the right permits/permissions), or cremated. We encourage a memorial service or a moment of remembrance with your loved ones to celebrate your pet’s life.
