During your pet’s long and rambunctious life, they may encounter a broken bone or joint pain. We offer orthopedic support to alleviate these conditions. Our services include diagnosis, pain management and surgeries that can correct the wears and tears your pet may encounter. For special cases, like a torn ACL (anterior cruciate ligament), we invite a board certified veterinary surgeon to treat our furry clients. How do you diagnose orthopedic issues?

X-rays and radiographs are helpful diagnostic tools. They scan the inside of your pet’s body and pinpoint the location and severity of their condition. This information is especially helpful in guiding us through our treatment plan. Our veterinarians can also perform tests by physically examining your pet’s body. We can detect an ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) rupture by feeling the hind leg. ACLs occur when the knee joint is not stabilized. Our tests search for deformities in the knee and let us know that we will have to prepare for surgery as soon as possible.

What causes orthopedic issues?

Whether our pet’s are stretching, running or jumping, their bones and joints are constantly at work. As a result, orthopedic issues can occur for many reasons, including injuries, weight gain and genetics. Pets can acquire hip or elbow dysplasia from abnormal joint placement. As their body grows, disfigurement can develop. They can also get injuries from landing too hard when they play or deformations from weight gain when they do not play enough.

Are there other ways to treat my pet besides orthopedic surgeries?

Yes! If your pet is experiencing orthopedic issues they will likely be in pain. When instability occurs in the musculoskeletal system, it leads to a reduction of cartilage tissue. This can cause friction between the joints and cause arthritis to form. Acupuncture and laser therapy alleviates the pain and reduces inflammation. Hydrotherapy gets your pet active without applying pressure to their body, helps them lose weight and is simply a blast.
